This plant sprouted up in my container garden on my screened in balcony. I think it's a weed, but was hoping you could help me identify it. I was also wondering if it is harmful to my cats.

After looking at your pictures and researching, we believe your plant is a black nigjhtshade. This plant is toxic to livestock and pets. Attached is the best article we could find desvribing this plant.
