Recently we trimmed our "Burning Bushes". (I don't know the formal name.) Most of the new leaves that have appeared subsequently are curling up severely. I have been giving the bushes 2 gallons each of water every other day. Should I continue to do this? What is causing the leaf stress?
Many thanks.

Expert Response
This leaf curling symptom might be due to too much water. It could also be a response to the stress of severe pruning. The curling is most likely a stress response. This is not a disease and we don't recommend any treatment.
These are tough shrubs and as long as there are live branches, they will continue to grow out. Please be aware that these burning bushes (Euonymus alatus) are invasive in Maryland. We do not recommend planting them and encourage you to consider a replacement.
