I have never seen anything like this on a rose. I assume they are galls from a mite, but have never heard of them on the leaves.

I have never seen anything like this on a rose. I assume they are galls from a mite, but have never heard of them on the leaves.

Leaf galls are common and we agree that that's probably what's shown in the photo. However, the galls are not typical of those found on roses and we haven't been able to identify the pest that caused them. A kind of mite or wasp is likely.
