Expert Response

Without seeing the actual specimen, I can't say if you should be worried or not. However, very few spiders are considered harmful to humans. My advice is to capture said spider in a vial with alcohol in it and take it to your local UMass Extension office (https://ag.umass.edu/extensionoutreach/umass-extension-in-your-community/extension-in-western-massac...) for positive identification.

If the spider is in the home, you can vacuum up the spider and the vacuuming process should kill the spider.
