I found this mustard yellow branch like, but dense, fungus growing on a tree stump in my yard. I did some research online, but can't figure out what it is and if it's dangerous. I've attached a few photos, one a close up. It's adjacent to my garden and not far from my house. Should I leave it alone or get rid of it?

Thanks for the question. From the pictures it appears to be what is affectionately referred to as dog vomit fungus. It is a type of slime mold, which technically is not a true fungus. If that is what it is, dog vomit fungus is harmless to people, pets, and plants.
