What kind of boulevard tree is this? #412925

Asked July 09, 2017, 6:00 PM EDT

It's in both Saint Paul and South Minneapolis. I think it's in the poplar family, but can't ID the leaf shape or flower/seeds, which seem pretty unique. Thanks!! Marjean

The tree is a Linden. They are not related to poplars. Here is some more info about them. http://www.uky.edu/hort/American-Linden

Thank you so much, Sherry! I would have been confused a very long without your help! And now I appreciate the linden on my boulevard even more! What might their life expectancy be, given that it is well spaced and gets good light and adequate moisture?

Looks like it could be anywhere from 100-200 years. They say 500-1000 for European!
