what plant is this? veg or weed? #411836

I have two plants that I am growing, they were volunteers and I thought they were edible vegetables from past seasons - but I have no idea really - attaching photos and thanks much in advance!

From your pictures I think this is redroot pigweed. Identification is more precise when it flowers.  Flowers should be minute and clustered in cone-shaped spikes.  The sturdy taproot should be reddish near the top.  It is an annual and will grow to 1-3 feet tall.  This article, Redroot pigweed, gives you more information.
