My daughter was given this plant and told it has pink flowers and may be called deer flower. The stems are prickly. Cznyou id it?

The plant in the photo is probably cleome. It's a common annual. Cleome planted in the garden will often self seed and produce subsequent generations so long as growing conditions are favorable.
