Expert Response

This is a difficult situation. There could be a few causes for the leaves wilting. The first thing that comes to mind would be transplant shock. This is a phenomenon that can show up a year, and sometimes even two years after planting. Another situation could be irrigation, either too much or two little. The leaves show possible symptoms of over-watering. It is important to keep in mind that roots need oxygen and too much water causes issues with both oxygen and root rots. For both of these scenarios one should make sure the tree s adequately watered and kept from as much stress as possible. Make sure the soil is just damp and not too wet. Also check to make sure the tree is planted at the proper depth. It should be planted so the root flair is just starting at ground level. Planting a tree too deep causes stress and other problems. If the tree is planted too deep excavate around the trunk until you find the root flair then fill in the space with gravel to allow for better aeration around the trunk that is below ground.
