What is eating my beans? #407457

Asked June 15, 2017, 6:45 PM EDT

Some of my beans are on to their third set of leaves, but some have lost their first and second sets to varying degrees. The garden area is fenced and I believe effective for rabbits. Chipmunks do get through. I do not see any bugs or insects on the leaves. Do the attached pics reveal any tell-tale signs of who my hungry thief might be?

Expert Response

Bean leaf beetle, Cerotoma trifurcata, may be causing  the damage.
