Maple tree leaves with black spots #407382

Asked June 15, 2017, 3:02 PM EDT

We have 2 (silver I think) maple trees (10-12" diameter) in our yard that have developed black spots on the leaves throughout the tree. The spots are dead sections of the leaf. Can you give me an idea what it might be and how to remedy this and protect our trees? Thanks!

Anthracnose Discula campestris, D. umbrinella, Aureobasidium
apocryptum, Colletotrichum gloeosporioides

The tree was infected with anthracnose in our early cool, wet spring just as the leaves are expanding. Fortunately, this leaf spotting and leaf distortion will have very little affect on the health of the tree.
