Big eating my perennials #403041

i found this bug on my Black-eyed Susans and anemones -- it's eating up the leaves and leaving black residue. Help! It looks awful!
PS - I sent other pics of the leaves -- I hadn't found a bug at that point.

That is a four-lined plant bug. You must be observant and quick because they are hard to detect.
The good news is they have already done most of their damage for the season (there is only one generation) and plants can grow out of it.
