Something's eating my anemone and black-eyed Susans #402692

My anemone and black-eyed Susans have been in the same place for the past 4 or 5 years with no problem. This year they are being eaten up by something. I don't see bugs but the leaves are ending up like lace. See the attached pictures -- dry black residue remains. Thanks for your help to identify the problem and pick a solution! Thanks!!! Fran

That is a four-lined plant bug. You must be observant and quick because they are hard to detect.
The good news is they have already done most of their damage for the season (there is only one generation) and plants can grow out of it.
