Brown Spots on Oak Tree Leaves #401469

Asked May 21, 2017, 6:05 PM EDT

This oak tree is 1 year old. I transplanted it 3 weeks ago. Everything was fine until this week. Please see the picture and let me know what the brown spots are and what I should do about them.

Expert Response

This is Phyllosticta leaf spot, which is caused by a fungus. It is relatively common on maples, but it does not cause major harm to the trees. You can prune out and dispose of affected leaves. No other treatment is required.
