natural privacy #400995

Asked May 19, 2017, 10:13 AM EDT

I have a 3-foot chain-linked fence separating my neighbor's property and mine. I have started a lovely perennial garden in an English garden fashion. I am looking for plants to create a natural hedge for privacy as well as to hide the fence, maybe something that grows 4 feet? I would like a variety of plants, especially those that attract birds, butterflies, hummingbirds, etc.

Expert Response

A sure winner are plants from the azalea, rhododendron, laurel family. They can be shaped or left to grow naturally. They come in many sizes, and they feed the bees and hummingbirds in the spring.
