As the weather warms up, the shrubs in my privacy fence are coming to life. The leaves on one of three Sweetbay Magnolias, however, are turning brown. What would cause this, pest or disease? And what do I do about it?

Since only one of your three magnolias is effected, I tend to feel it is likely to be related to something in the soil such as to high a ph. Try spreading sulphuric in the root zone and see if that helps.
