One trunk of our tree seems to loose leaves more so that the other trunks, the tree is near a wallnut tree. What might be the problem and any ideas how to correct the problem, it;s our favorite tree. My name is Al Anderson and I can be reached at 507-456-1976. Thank You

You are right paper birch are sensitive to juglone  that is made by black walnut. If the birch tree roots have moved into the soil under the walnut they could be affected by the juglone. Birch also do much better if their roots are cool and they get
sufficient water. Turf under birch are strong competitors for water so birch do
better with mulch out to the root zone. They also need about an inch of water a week until the ground freezes at the end of fall.
