I observed this spider biting it's prey. Can you perhaps tell me what spider it is? I am in South Africa, northern Gauteng Province.

I observed this spider biting it's prey. Can you perhaps tell me what spider it is? I am in South Africa, northern Gauteng Province.

Nice image but I am not familiar with spiders from that part of the world. It does look similar to orb spiders in the US.
The problem is that organisms that adapt to similar environments can look similar but be from much different genera. You might want to contact someone in one of the local colleges or University in South Africa to see if they know of a spider expert familiar with species in South Africa.
If you have a library near by, you might want to look for a book
