What kind of bug is this? #385956
Asked February 21, 2017, 11:32 AM EST
I have had these bugs in my home since last fall. The first one I killed had a terrible odor. In trying to identify it online, it looks similar to a kissing bug or a stink bug.
If you can identify it, what harm can they do and how do I get rid of them?
Thank you,

This picture was really helpful! This is a western conifer-seed bug. It's a member of the family of true bugs. Western conifer-seed bugs are sometimes seen indoors in small groups, as you have found out already. They can be a nuisance, but are harmless. Here is a link to a publication about this insect that includes management recommendations. http://www.extension.umn.edu/garden/insects/find/nuisance-invaders/
