Remove a lightnening struck tree #384337

Asked February 07, 2017, 10:47 AM EST

Should we remove a tree which was struck by lightening about 4 years ago? It has a gaping open, deep wound in the trunk and denuded bark areas extending away from the wound but not going around the trunk.

I would guess that the canopy of that tree is becoming more sparse than prior to the strike.  It is probably just going through a slow death.  It would be best to remove it before it becomes a harzard and falls on someone or something.
