Identify this bug #383510

We have found several of these wandering the house in the last month. (Yes, January)

What is it?

Thanks for reaching out with your question. Our plant and soil science expert sent this response:

"This appears to be a boxelder bug, a common home invader in the fall. They cause no issues other than being a nuisance. They come in when the cold weather sets in in the fall. I am including a link to some info on this nuisance pest. I would not recommend using any pesticides, but try the different methods suggested, such as caulking cracks, fixing screens, vacuuming, removing boxelder (also ash and maple) trees near the house, etc."
