Bell pepper disfiguration #373486

Asked October 29, 2016, 12:15 PM EDT

Some of my Bell peppers have a type of scarring at the surface that appears irregular with a “spider web” type appearance that seems to affect the growth to a fully normal shape. The web style scaring is a light brown color. Not all of the peppers have this - only a few of them. Thanks for any ideas on this.

Damage like this is usually caused by weather.  The most likely culprit here is uneven levels of water.  If weather was dry for a while, then lots of water was available the pepper fruits could begin a period of rapid growth.  The skin of the pepper isn't able to keep up with the interior growth and cracks.  This could also be caused by excessive heat.  We've had both issues this year.
