Identify columnar blue spruce tree? #370834
Asked October 17, 2016, 11:48 PM EDT
I found several columnar blue spruce type variety trees planted in Fort Collins at the new LDS temple which I would like to purchase from a nursery but do not know what the name of the variety is. I attached a picture. Could you identify what the name of this narrow spruce is?

Hi there,
Unfortunately I can't tell what the specific cultivar is from the photo, but you are correct that it is a columnar spruce. I suggest you ask someone at the temple, that way you'll be 100% sure that you are getting the same kind. If that isn't possible, I suggest going to one of your local nurseries and asking them what varieties they carry.
A few options are: Picea pungens 'Iseli Fastigiate' or 'Fastigata'; Picea abies 'Cupressina'
Good luck!
