It looks like two pine trees of the same variety at the top of the hill are ill. Attached are pictures to show the yellowing of the needles. Is whatever is happening with those two trees likely to spread to the row of four other varieties of Evergreen on the hill? Are there preventative measures needed?

Expert Response
It appears that you have taken pictures of two white pine trees. When a pine tree starts growing new needles in the spring, it still has needles from the previous year. So, your pine trees entered spring 2016 with 2015 needles and has added 2016 needles, The tree retained two years worth of needles throughout the summer. In fall, the tree sheds its 2015 needles while retaining the 2016 needles. So, the yellowing you are seeing is simply the 2015 needles dying and falling off the tree. The same phenomena will every fall at this time. There is no need to worry.
