I have a very large Norway maple that has developed a leaf disease that I noticed a few weeks ago.(please see attached phot. Leafs are falling particularly from lower branches. Can you identify and suggest a treatment?

Expert Response

Your red maple has a common leaf spot disease. Possibly tar spot disease. This typically is not a damaging disease for maples - only cosmetic. At this point there is really not much you can do about the leaf spot. The red maple may be suffering from drought stress or some other unknown stress. Probably, the best thing you can do is give the tree adequate water.
