Poor lettuce germination #361212

Asked September 09, 2016, 4:44 PM EDT

I have 2 garden sites about 100 feet apart. On one site I have no lettuce seed germination. Using the same seed source and package the other site has yielded better germination. Both sites have not yielded the germination i expected.

Lettuce seed is very short lived. There are many factors that go into germination. Moisture, air, temperature, light are the most common factors. Soil can vary greatly in 100 feet. The amount of sun or degree of root interference affects the amount of moisture. Presence of microorganisms can also be a factor. Seed that is planted too deeply may not grow. Critters can eat seed. When seed does not grow, replant. vw
