BROWN RECLUSE SPIDER #360223
Asked September 06, 2016, 3:37 PM EDT
To whom it may concern, Can you tell me if these photos could be a brown recluse spider. I live in Laurel. MD. I found this spider crawling near the floor at the base of my bathtub. It was near one of the registers for H/AC. It was dark in the bathroom for a couple hours until I turned on the light. UPS made a delivery in a cardboard box from Missouri a couple of days ago. The box is one room away from where I found the spider. I WILL KEEP THE SPIDER UNTIL I HEAR BACK FROM YOU. Thank you for your attention to this matter Sincerely,
Prince George's County Maryland
Expert Response
This does not look like a brown recluse. This looks like a type of wolf spider and not poisonous. Spiders in general keep pest insects in check.
