There were three of these birch trees behind the Snyder building at the arboretum. They appeared stressed last summer and they are now cut down and gone. What happened? Short lifespan? Disease? Insect? I had planned to use them but now wonder.

I have not come across anything negative about the Dakota Pinnacle birch tree. They are really great trees and have a terrific form.
Questions specific to the Arboretum are best directed to the Arboretum as there could be several reasons for removing these trees (new construction, new planting, expansion, etc.) Here is the main number:<personal data hidden>.
