We have a fuyu persimmon tree whose roots are shallow and sprouting new trees. Will these trees be like a clone of the original if I cut them away and move them?

Expert Response
Suckers growing from the base of a persimmon tree can be transplanted if part of the attached root system is kept, but may not be identical to your Fuyu persimmon since "Fuyu" persimmons are usually grown on a Diospyros kaki rootstock. Propagating "Fuyu" persimmons through root cuttings can only be done if your tree grows on its own roots. For Fuyu trees grafted onto a rootstock, take root cuttings to grow new rootstock and graft buds from the Fuyu onto the young rootstock tree.
