You almost got it right with your question.  Your creepers are called Creeping Charlie or Ground Ivy or Gill-Over-the-Ground... Glechoma hederacea.  It is a perennial plant that spreads by stolons.  It grows well in shade but  will also grow in sun.  It prefers moist soil but will adapt; just give it a chance.
