Acalypha ostryifolia + how to control/kill this growing in yard #353351

Asked August 15, 2016, 3:27 PM EDT

I have a fast growing weed that keeps returning in my yard. Late summer, after a good rain, these things seem to multiply and get fairly tall. I posted to a neighborhood site and was told this was Acalypha ostryifolia which matches what I have growing. What is the best way to control this in my yard? Better yet, what can I use to kill this and prevent it from growing back? Thank you!

Is this growing in or around plantation do not want to kill?

It's not growing around anything else I want to save. Ultimately, I want to sow grass seed in the area, or just mulch as a walkway. I just need to prevent this from growing back.

You need to spray herbicides before it goes into reproduction stages. That is when it blooms and puts on seeds. Active ingredients such as glyphosate which is found in round up, cornerstone and there are also some or this products more specifically for homeowners. This will only kill the plants you see. I would spray, wait two weeks and spray again. After the second spray wait two weeks then sow your grass seed.
