Brown Growth Spots on Stem of Green Bean Plant #353205
Asked August 15, 2016, 10:18 AM EDT
I found on one of my green plants these brown growth spots. This plant had NO green beans growing on it at all. I hurried and pulled it from my garden so the rest of my green bean plants would not be affected. I have researched and also asked my father who is a farmer, but we have not been able to identify what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like crown gall. Pulling it out as soon as you noticed was the thing to do. Do not compose the plant. Check out the management practices in the fact sheet.
