Our madrone tree has lost all of its leaves this summer and is looking dead. Is this normal? It usually only loses about half of the leaves and shows signs of new leaf growth.

Expert Response
Madrone trees normally lose some leaves every 13 months, your tree does not look normal. I would suggest you contact an arborist as soon as possible due to the size of your tree. I am also including a reference on disease issues with Madrone trees. https://catalog.extension.oregonstate.edu/sites/catalog/files/project/pdf/ec1619.pdf
