Blueberry blight? #347273

Asked July 27, 2016, 2:45 PM EDT

Dear Penn State, We have a small blueberry patch of approximately 30 plants, all 2-4 years old. In the past 8 weeks we have lost 2 bushes, and over the last two weeks it looks like we are about to lose 4 more. We are not sure if it is a blight, pest, or soil condition. (We suspect blight, no evidence of pest and berries surrounding them are producing fruit well.) The leaves turn brown and curl, and then fall off, leaving behind a dead plant. (See attached pictures.) Any insights would be greatly appreciated! Jason and Katie Boosel

Expert Response

Here is a link to a publication on blueberry blight. I would take a sample to your local Penn State Extension and have it analysed to make sure what you've got. The plant clinic will give a suggested treatment plan along with the diagnosis. Here is a link to their website.
