Apple tree pests #347240

Asked July 27, 2016, 1:42 PM EDT

Hi. Any thoughts on what pest is getting my apples/leaves. We do have some Japanese beetle infestation, but not too bad.

Expert Response

Hi, I think what you have going on there is that some infraction on the apple skin has caused rot to develop. That break in the skin could have been insect damage (Japanese beetle?), rubbing from another part of the tree, or even sunburn. You really have to be diligent about keeping insect damage from occurring to prevent this.
