Tree frog #347160

Asked July 27, 2016, 11:21 AM EDT

I found this little guy in my backyard on a basil plant. He didn't look like grey tree frog. Can you tell me what it is?

Gray treefrogs can be gray, green or brown and can change between the various  shades of these colors.  There are actually two nearly identical species of gray treefrogs but both have large, adhesive toe pads as seen in your photos.

There is Hyla versicolor and Hyla chrysoscelis and there is no reliable way to separate the two other than springtime vocalizations.

It's a  gray treefrog, going with the green outfit.  I hope you released it.  They make dead pets.
