Expert Response

Your flower is from a winter hardy species of hibiscus, commonly known as Rose-of-Sharon, Hibiscus syriacus.

It is a native of Asia and very easy to grow.  It flowers more proflicly in full sun, but also will grow in partial shade.  Hummingbirds and other pollinators are attracted to the large showy flowers. However, this species of hibiscus can become invasive if the the seed pods are not removed before they ripen.
