In the past month patches of a white, fuzzy growth have appeared on my lawn. They appear in the morning, usually a damp and warm morning,and the growth disappears when direct sun reaches it. However, it seems to kill the grass, turning the blades brown. I have attached a picture of this morning's outbreak.
Do you know what it could be? Do you know how I can prevent it?

What you are seeing is the mycelium of a common turf disease called brown patch. it is caused by a fungus and associated with high temperatures and humidity. It is not a killing disease, in that,the turf will recover when conditions get cooler and the atmosphere gets drier. We do not recommend fungicides for homeowners to control the disease.
