I've let couple of these volunteers grow in my yard. This year they were covered with miniature (¼-½") blueberry-like flowers. Very few turned into berries.
What kind of plant is this and will the berries be edible when they ripen?
Thanks!

Expert Response
We are not able to get a positive identification of the plant. One expert says it might be swamp buckthorn.
Ok. Thanks. I'll look into that.
Hi, Koralleen
Somebody has suggested Sparkleberry (Vaccinium arboretum).
I forgot that I have pictures of the flowers. Do these help?

Wow, those flower photos really do help! Here is a link to the University of Florida Extension document describing Sparkleberry (sometimes called Farkleberry as well):

The berries are edible but not particularly palatable.
