ASH TREE #336598

Asked June 26, 2016, 4:16 PM EDT

I have what I believe to be an ash tree that has shown problems for the past week. Big clumps of leaves have been falling from the tree. Most of the leaves on this tree have holes in them, as do the leaves that have fallen to the ground. Insects are crawling on the bark, one is bright green, didn't notice wings), the other has wings but am unsure of the color. Tried to get a photo but they move too fast. Hoping you can diagnose the problem, and appreciate your time. Thank you. Diane Osborne New Hope (I have more photos but am only allowed 3 here.)

The tree in your pictures appears to be a Linden rather than an Ash. Japanese Beetles are green in color and know to like Linden trees. Below is a link to an article on Japanese Beetles. It does not include a picture but if you search images on the web you will be able to compare if that is what you are seeing. http://www.extension.umn.edu/garden/insects/find/japanese-beetles/
