Texas Goat Weed #336218

Asked June 25, 2016, 10:42 AM EDT

Our builder built a pad for our new house in Oakwood, TX using dirt from around a man-made pond.  We arrived after 5 weeks and the goat weed around the front porch is 3 feet tall and very thick.  It is also now around the pond.  (We have 60 acres and these are the only two locations where soil was disturbed and now overgrown with goat weed). What should we use to eradicate it????

Expert Response

For control of goat weed, 2,4-D is probably going to be your most effective control measure.  Other products that will give you control are Grazon P+D and GrazonNext.  You might have to shred the goat weed and then apply the chemical to the new leaves to get effective control.  In using any chemical product, please make sure that you read and follow the directions on the label for mixing and application.
