Juneberry problem #334999

Asked June 21, 2016, 5:33 PM EDT

My Juneberry has developed a problem with spots and damage on its leaves (see attached photo), and two of the outermost branches have completely fallen over, nearly to the ground. The berries look normal and healthy to me. Can you diagnose and advise me how to treat and/or prune it? Thank you!

Expert Response

The leaf damage is from insects. It could be any number of possibilities so unless you can find the culprit, it is not possible to say for sure.  If the insects are gone, there is no need to do anything further.  If you are able to find them, there are insecticides that are approved for edible plants.  The two branches fall down may be due to the amount of berries or may just be too long.  You can prune them back a ways if you wish.
