Tree Identification #332259

Asked June 14, 2016, 11:35 AM EDT

Please help me identify this tree. It has small berries that look like tiny mangoes. They ripen from yellow-green to red. The tree is currently about 15' tall. Smooth bark. Thank you.

Expert Response

This looks like a cranberry viburnum.  The opposite placement of the leaves, the leaf shape, and the early fruit production all suggest this id.  This is a wonderful native plant.  Here is more about it: https://extension.umaine.edu/cranberries/highbush-cranberry/

There is also a European cranberry viburnum.
