I recently cut down a 4 year old tree that mother nature planted on my property. Someone told me it is called a Sumac tree - it gets red fuzzy candle like flowers in the summer. I found an image online that resembles the tree.
Can I burn the wood from this tree in my fireplace (indoor) in the winter? or is it related to poison sumac? poison ivy? which you don't burn.
Thank you - Lisa

Hi:
That is a sumac. It doesn't have the allergic qualities that poison sumac and poison ivy have. I had to read up on your other question. It isn't considered a good burning wood. It is a soft wood so burns quickly. I also read reports that it has a strong smell when burned. If it was me, I would pass on using it as a firewood.
