No blooms on Japanese lilac #325903

Asked May 27, 2016, 8:17 PM EDT

We planted an ivory silk last spring and it had a few blooms on it from the nursery. It has grown nicely since, but there are no blooms developing this year. It is in full sunshine, is planted in sandy well drained soil and was well watered and doesn't appear to have bugs or damage from the winter. Any thoughts??

Expert Response

Many Japanese tree lilacs do not bloom reliably each year. Bloom on newly planted specimens is particularly likely to be intermittent.
