This could be one of the most difficult  weeds to control in Maryland lawns. It will 2 to 3 applications of a 1 to1 ratio  combining 2,4 -D and triclopyr. Apply it spring,fall and again in the spring.http://extension.umd.edu/hgic/wild-violet
