Christmas Palms (3 plants in a clump) falling leaves #323382

Asked May 20, 2016, 2:05 PM EDT

My Christmas palms leaves are falling down in perfect condition and I believe some kind of animal is feeding on them or cutting the leaves down for who knows what reason. I haven't been able to see anything but whatever it is, I'm afraid is going to kill the palms, any ideas on what could be attacking them?

Expert Response

I suspect it is roof rats and unless they destroy the growth point (the top center where the fronds originate) your palm should be fine.  Hopefully, they will not take too many off since the palm need its fronds to photosynthesise.
Good luck.  A
