How can I get rid of it?

Hi, and thanks for contacting AaE.  

This is a thistle of some sort (It's hard to identify them until they are bigger and have flowered).  Oftentimes they appear in our lawns and gardens as a result of scattered bird food that we use in feeders over the winter.  

Thistle control can run the gamut from simple hand removal, or regular lawn mowing if there are only a few plants, to all out chemical and mechanical warfare if they are among some of the Listed Invasive species.   Here is a link that may help you identify your plant, and some ways to control it:
