What type of bush is this, and how do I care for it? #318926

Asked May 05, 2016, 2:15 AM EDT

My builder planted 4 of these bushes in my yard, but they don't know what it is. It appears to be quite happy and it grows well, flowers and produces some type of berry that I think the black birds are eating. Can you tell me what bush this is, and how to care for it?

Podocarpus is a drought tolerant evergreen shrub.

Thank you Paul. This helps. The images of my small bushes becoming huge trees is intimidating.

Is there a way to keep them manageable? There are two gardenia bushes behind them and a red leaf bush and a live oak in front of them.

The photo in the previous post is two years old. The bushes are much taller now.

I would allow them to grow and establish a good root system. When they get to the height you like, you can easily prune and shape them as you like.

Thanks
