What kind of bug is this #315857

Asked April 23, 2016, 11:19 PM EDT

I found a bunch of these small black bugs on the floor between my window and bed. I also found a few on my bed and on my box spring. My moms convinced they are bed bugs but I have had larder beetles in my room in the past. These don't really look like either to me so I thought I should ask someone else. Please let me know what this is as soon as possible

Not a very good picture. The bug is not a bedbug - so that is good news. It looks like a carpet beetle which feeds on natural fabrics such as cotton, wool, mohair, mink, etc. Check you closet and those types of garments for holes and gaps where they may have eaten. The adults are attracted to light (windows) while the larvae damage cloths. (See attached picture).  Note: there are several species , but control measures are the same.
